Quick Little Update
For those of you curious, I- along with eight others- spent two and a bit months in Siberia as part of the outreach portion of my DTS. We had two Outreach teams dispatched from out base. One went to Siberia (me!) and the other team went to the Mediterranean.
We left Norway on January 7th, and arrived in the city of Krasnoyarsk on January 8th. After a quick nap, we were taken on a tour around the city with the couple who were our contacts. We spent three weeks in Krasnoyarsk, and did a lot of practical work while we were there, such as painting and cleaning, as well as leading a kids club for underprivileged kids. We visited several villages and towns around the city as well, and often spoke at churches or meetings there. We learned quite quickly to be spontaneous, and to be prepared to share at any moment.
Following Krasnoyarsk, we spent three weeks in the city Kyzyl. We did a lot of church ministry here, and a couple of us had the opportunity to teach at the bible school connected to the church we were working at. While here, we were able to touch the geographical centre of Asia, which I consider a once in a lifetime experience! We also participated in an overnight prayer meeting, the evening of Lunar New Year. Here is where we lived just a few hours away from Mongolia, but because our visas only allowed us one entry to Russia, we were unable to visit.
After three weeks in Kyzyl, we travelled to the cities of Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude, where we met some pretty awesome people, and got to visit some really interesting sights!
After nine weeks away from Norway, we finally returned to the base on March 15th, and spent the weekend getting over jetlag, and catching up with the other team.
Since then, we have had teaching weeks, and track weeks. It's hard to believe that this DTS is almost over! We have less than a month before graduation. CRAZY!
I said that I felt like receiving stories to tell was going to be a big part of my year, and Outreach definitely provided me with more to share with you. I'm excited to tell you these stories, and to let you in on what God has been doing in my life lately.
